The Loquat Lounge
Wednesdays, 6 - 8 pm
"The Loquat Lounge” is an eclectic musical mix interspersed with my humorous stories and motherly advice. Jokingly referred to as” the show for the retired Punk Rocker’, it features 60’s lounge, surf, rockabilly, krooners, roots country & blues, 50’s R +B, early 70’s rock & blaxsploitation, some funny oldies found in the closet, and fresh new music that moves me or inspires one to wiggle that pelvis while you’re doing dishes or hangin’ by the beach fire."
"It's a place where I can take a break from my week...driving home I listen to Mama and mix that imaginary cocktail on the dashboard, relax my neck, and use the radio knobs as olives..."

Born and raised in New York City, I was consistently a music fanatic. Addicted to radio at a young age, my dad could only partially satisfy me by a weekly 45 purchase at Sam Goody. I began DJing at summer camp in the Berkshire Mountains at a stylish 9 years old! (I remember playing “Ballroom Blitz” over and over).
Later I transformed into the infamous Pittsburgh DJ, ‘Redhot Rosa’ on WRCT for 5 years, ‘De Echte Americanse Rosa’ on Radio Honderd in Amsterdam, a newscaster on an upstate New York station, and then an active volunteer with the crazed WFMU in New York.
I was the New York Scene Reporter for the international punk zine, “Maximum Rock ‘N Roll” back in the 80’s, have written album reviews for many fanzines such as “Bad Newz”, and have interviewed various alternative bands for many magazines.

I was also hospitality director for a Pittsburgh concert venue and have been actively clubbing and seeing live music since I was 14 years old.
My first visit to Kaua'i in 1987 was life-changing, and I have repeatedly revisited until seven years ago when I quit my job as a go-go dancer for The Supertones (a NYC surf band) and packed up to wiggle in real surf on Kaua'i. Now, I live on a farm with my hubby Poppa Hughe and we are raising the hippest thing to ever happen, our crazed kids- Lex & Zane!

Only in hawaii, the land of TIKI
