Many KKCR listeners know him simply as "Den on the I-10", host of the weekly radio show with the same name, every Tuesday from 10pm to midnight. Featuring roots and Americana artists with ties to Interstate highway #10, which stretches from the Pacific ocean all the way to Jacksonville, Florida, the "Den on the I-10" show is one of a kind... just like its host.
A former merchant Marine, Dennis first began volunteering at KKCR in late 2003 and has continued to be an active member ever since. His dry wit and boyish smile make him a pleasure to be around, as well as his dedicated service to KKCR. In addition to hosting his weekly radio program, Dennis spends his Fridays volunteering at the station, and is a vital part of KKCR's continued success. Mainly assisting in the music department, Dennis has earned the unofficial title of "Assistant Music Director" with his consistent dedication towards identifying and labeling new music to be added to KKCR's ever growing library.
"As music director, I can honestly say that without Dennis' help, I simply could not keep up with the volume of cd's to be reviewed and cleared for airplay. Please join me in thanking Dennis, and all of our volunteers that go beyond simply hosting a radio program, because they really are the driving force that sustains Kaua'i Community Radio. Mahalo Den!!" Ken Janelli |

“KKCR is Kauai’s independent, non-commercial, listener-supported community radio station.
We seek to stimulate, educate and entertain our audience, to preserve, perpetuate and celebrate Hawaiian culture, and to reflect the diversity of the local and world community.
We provide a forum for overlooked, suppressed, or under-represented voices and music. The Kekahu Foundation facilitates this broadcasting opportunity. |

In the wake of Hurricane `Iniki’s devastation in 1992, community members gathered to develop a plan to stay connected, informed and safe. Their brainchild was Kaua`i Community Radio.
In the summer of 1997, KKCR broadcast its first signals island-wide. The small community-based, non-profit radio station connects all the remote communities on the isolated Garden Island. KKCR is committed to providing relevant, accurate, timely information during times of crisis. It’s also dedicated to representing the unique character of the island community.
KKCR’s program schedule reflects the broad, rich spectrum of Kaua`i’s community. Musical genres include vintage and contemporary Hawaiian, Jazz, Alternative, Reggae, World, Classical, Rock and Blues. Kaua`i Live features in-studio performances from local and visiting artists on Sunday evenings.
The Public Affairs programming includes weekly call-in talk shows, a Hawaiian Entertainment Calendar, Community Calendar, and Arts & Entertainment Calendar. Special interest programs include gardening, island pets, health and wellness, and teen radio.
As a commercial-free, non-profit entity, KKCR’s survival depends on support from its community – local and global. Please join KKCR’s `ohana (family). To support listener-powered community radio, please click here. |
