KKCR FEATURED PROGRAMMER
GROVER INKS
DOMESTIC DISTURBANCE ~
ALTERNATING FRIDAYS 6-8pm

I'm Grover Inks. I was raised in California and moved to Kauai in 2000. I originally was pulled here by the outstanding beauty I saw in pictures or movies but soon realized Kauai was much more than that. Between the people, the weather, the pace of life and all the beach days you come to realize what's really important in life and what's not. So now I hang with my 2 girls, repair computers, get to the beach as much as possible and host a show on KKCR named Domestic Disturbance.

My show is anything that fits in the Rock n Roll category with much emphasis on the heavier side of things and songs that sound good LOUD. I play classic rock, alternative, punk, hard rock and heavy metal, anything from the Eagles through Metallica.

Over 6 years ago my friend Yogi and I were talking about music and I brought up how much I missed a station that played the kinds of music that I like. He said "ya know what, you should cruise over to KKCR and check them out, I've been there before and seems like a cool environment". I knew nothing about the station, but within the next few days I found myself strolling through their front door. I was greeted by my mentor Jack, who told me more about the station and mentioned that they were going to have an opening soon if I wanted to put in some volunteer time and learn the craft.

Here I am years later absolutely loving my involvement in the station that is KKCR. I have met and become friends with so many great people and we all are bonded by our love of music and playing it for our listeners. Kauai Community Radio is such a big and wonderful part of my life and I don't know what I would do without itů, or music!

COMMUNITY RADIO ON THE GARDEN ISLAND

In the summer of 1997, KKCR broadcast its first signals island-wide. Our small community-based, non-profit radio station connects all the remote communities on the isolated Garden Island. KKCR is committed to providing relevant, accurate, timely information during times of crisis. It's also dedicated to representing the unique character of our island community.

KKCR's program schedule reflects the broad, rich spectrum of Kaua`i's community. Musical genres include vintage and contemporary Hawaiian, Jazz, Alternative, Reggae, World, Classical, Rock and Blues. Kaua`i Live features in-studio performances from local and visiting artists on Sunday evenings.

The Community Affairs programming includes weekly call-in talk shows - a Hawaiian Entertainment Calendar and a Community Calendar. Special interest programs include gardening, pets, health and wellness programs.
