Programming Committee Meeting

This meeting marks the reinstatement of the ad hoc Programming Committee. Itʻs purpose is to address three topics of discussion brought by the General Manager:

1. To compose survey questions to bring to the community and listeners to assess what the possible role of KKCR could have in the news landscape on Kauaʻi. This is in conjunction and compliance with grant funding from the Listening Post Collective and the NFCB. The questions will be brought to the public via events, tabling, on air, on the web, art walks, etc.
2. To address the role and responsibility of KKCR DJs and show hosts in a time of heightened scrutiny by the FCC. Read more here.
3. To discuss ways to bring improvements to talk shows, if any. Training? In what areas? Show hosts? Fact checkers? Topic seeding? Public speech? Conflict communication? What are the best ways to make and keep them engaging to listeners, and to bring good value to the hosts?
4. Open Discussion.

This meeting will be moderated by the General Manager and is meant to be civil and constructive. It is a first step in a series of, hopefully, four meetings.

All members of KKCR are welcome to attend and participate in the Programming Committee, though it needs to be populated by two members of the Board of Directors, two DJs, and one staff.
